CHERRY HILL , NJ –
Virtual Reality morphing into Our Reality, sensors reaching out to
embrace nearly every product, Smart Clients imbuing intelligence into
electronic devices, and entertainment everywhere were the picks this year
for top tech trends by NuSoft Solutions President Keith Brophy.
Brophy, the founder of SageStone Consulting, which he sold in December
to NuSoft, has presented his annual technology trends report for years. He
made his latest predictions Thursday night at the GLIMAWest networking
meeting.
Brophy’s 2005 predictions include:
Virtual Reality Equals Our Reality. Computer simulated environments
have become pervasive and will only continue to evolve making the veil
between real and simulated impossible to discern.
Sensors That Reach Out. For instance, car alarms that connect directly
to your cell phone to alert you when someone tampers with your vehicle.
Smart Clients. Our living experiences recorded by our electronic
devices. Eventually all electronic devices will have intelligence.
Entertainment Everywhere. The iPod revolution in music is only the
beginning of the entertainment revolution that will have our music, our
movies, our games constantly available in our homes, work and vehicles.
Improved Tools To Write Software. The jury is still out on what those
tools will be, but computers have begun to write their own code.
GPS Like Electricity. GPS chips already are in our cars and cell
phones. This year they will become embedded in us.
Robots Become Life As We Know It. Robotic products like the Roomba
automatic floor vacuum will become the norm this year.
Safer Technology Differentiates Cars. Technology that makes vehicles
safer will become a major selling point for auto makers trying to separate
themselves from the pack.
10 Percent Of Us Will Get An ID Chip By 2008. Lead by the move to find
lost or kidnapped children, embedded ID chips will become more prevalent
in the years to come.
