Medical Billing/Coding Technology Specialist

                                          

Course Description:

This sixteen week course is designed for the person who is interested in obtaining training skills that will not only gain them

employment with computer skills in a medical office, but also business administrative and business skills to start a home

based medical billing business. Students will learn the fundamentals and advanced features of using the a personal computer.

Students will then go on to learn the fundamentals and advanced Medical Terminology used in all medical offices. The next

part of the program will teach you the medical billing and coding required knowledge by most Medical Billing clerks and

administrators using the most advanced billing software. Students will also learn to use the Medisoft Accounting program

which is similar to any patient billing program, and Flashcodes software. Students will then learn how to start and run a

business by creating a business and marketing plan, setting up your financials and deigning your business card, brochure,

flyers, letterhead, etc using Microsoft Publisher. Students will also become proficient in using the Microsoft Office Package

(Word, Excel, Access and Power point).

Entrepreneurship Basics

Weeks 9 - 12
Medical Terminology - students will learn medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnostic tests and

treatment. This training allows student to become proficient in selecting and utilizing the correct codes for each office and/or

hospital procedure.
