Medical Billing/Coding Analyst

Course Description:

This eight week course is designed for the person who has taken a fundamental and advanced Medical Terminology course and needs to learn the medical billing and coding required by most Medical Billing clerks and administrators using the most advanced billing software.  Students who successfully complete our training program graduate with a state certification as a: Medical Billing/Coding Analyst.

Course Outline:

Week 1
Pc Literacy - students learn the fundamentals of using a personal computer, fundamentals of word, excel, power point and access.
 
Weeks 2 - 8
Medical Billing/Coding - students will learn medical billing codes (ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS). 
Learning to speak the language
You’re a part of a team
How the medical claim cycle works
Private indemnity and managed care medical plans
Government medical plans
Basic principals for diagnosis coding
Basic principles for evaluation and management service
Basic principles of procedure coding
HCFA-1500 claim form
Reimbursement success
Developing critical think skills: analyzing problems and making decisions

Week 8
Final Review, Final Exam, Final Project
