Accounting and Quick Books Technology Specialist
Course Description:
Students attending this course will learn the fundamentals and advanced accounting methods. Students will also learn beginner
and advanced features of using and implementing the computerized accounting program quick books. Students will also learn
the fundamentals and advanced procedures of using Microsoft Office (word, excel, access publisher and power point). This
program is great for the person who wants to start their own bookkeeping business, work in and office.
Course Outline:
Week 1 - 8
Introduction to Ms Office - Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Publisher. Students will
learn the fundamentals and advance
procedures for using these programs. Students will complete their Mock Business Plan that is the final project for Microsoft
Office and includes the business plan, business cards, letterhead, flyer, brochure, customer database, power point presentation
and much more. This project is
50% of your final Microsoft Office grade.
Week 9-12
Learning Accounting applications with Ms Excel - basic service business accounting, basic
merchandise accounting, basic payroll,
special reports and analysis, asset management and
financial statement analysis.
Week 13-15
Quick books Pro - level one - getting started, setting up a company, working with lists,
setting up inventory, selling your product,
invoicing for services, processing payments, working with bank accounts, entering and paying bills, using easy step interview, using
online banking.
Quick books Pro - level two - customized forms, using other quick books accounts, creating
reports, creating graphs, tracking and
paying sales tax, doing payroll quick books, estimating, time tracking, job costing, writing letters, synchronizing with contact
management software.
Week 16
Final Review, Final Exam, Final Project
Entrepreneurship skills will be taught during the entire sixteen week period. Students will create three mock business
portfolio's - Mock Business Plan, Accounting using Excel Portfolio, Mock Quick books Business.
